　　On December, 2002, China won the bid to hosting Expo 2010.This is the first General Exhibition hosted by a developing country; However, China has a long-standing relationship with World Expo. Chinese people have participated in World Expo since its first presence. After wining its liberation, the People’s Republic of China has taken part in 12 world expositions. Chinese exhibits won many prizes in previous world expositions. The Yisheng Wine was awarded with the gold medal at Expo 1906 Milan Italy; many others like the embroidery of the Portrait of Jesus, Gold Prize Brandy , and Mao-Tai Chiew were among the highlights at the Panama-Pacific International Exposition San Francisco 1915.

　　2002年12月31日，中國(guó)成功申辦2010年世博會(huì)，這是第一次在發(fā)展中國(guó)家舉辦的綜合類世博會(huì)。但中國(guó)與世博會(huì)的淵源可長(zhǎng)呢，從第一屆世博會(huì)起，就有中國(guó)人參展。建國(guó)后，中國(guó)也參加了12屆世博會(huì)。并且中國(guó)的展品在歷屆世博會(huì)上獲得過很多獎(jiǎng)項(xiàng)，比如在首屆世博會(huì)上，來自中國(guó)上海的商人徐榮村，就憑其自己的“榮記湖絲”獲金、銀大獎(jiǎng)；“頤生酒”在1906年意大利米蘭世博會(huì)上獲金獎(jiǎng)，還有《耶穌像》刺繡、金獎(jiǎng)白蘭地和著名的茅臺(tái)酒等都在1915年舊金山巴拿馬世博會(huì)上傲視群雄。

　　China has taken an active part in the work of BIE since it joined the BIE on May 3, 1993. In December 2003 ,Mr. Wu Jianmin, the Chinese ambassador to France at that time, was elected as the Chairperson of BIE, and succeeded himself to the second consecutive term. 　　1993年5月3日，中國(guó)正式加入國(guó)際展覽局，并積極參與了國(guó)際展覽局的各項(xiàng)活動(dòng)。2003年12月，時(shí)任中國(guó)駐法國(guó)大使吳建民被推舉為國(guó)際展覽局主席，并連任兩屆主席，由亞洲人擔(dān)任此重要職務(wù)在國(guó)際展覽局歷史上還是第一次。
