英語作文：Saying No to Smoking

　　People used to be allowed to have a smoke in public places.If a man wanted to light a cigar when shopping with his wife in store or working his colleagues in the office , he could .People around would think nothing of his smoking .

　　However,it is totally a different story now.as we all know,smoking is harmful,for smoking can lead to many diseases(such as lung cancer and emphysema) and passive smoking is more harmful than active smoking. In public places,the disadvantage of smoking is greater,this is connected with another effect of smoking,that is ,smoking pollutes environment by giving much poisonous vapour off into the air.

　　Obviously,banning smoking in public benefits people a lot.First,non-smokers are free from passive smoking and its harm.Second,air quality and our environment wil be improved now that people have less chance to smoke in the public places.

　　以前人們被允許在公共場所吸煙。如果一個男人想點燃雪茄和他的妻子在商店或購物時他的同事們在辦公室工作,他可以。周圍的人會認(rèn)為他吸煙。

　　然而,現(xiàn)在完全是一個不同的故事。我們都知道,吸煙是有害的,吸煙會導(dǎo)致許多疾病(如肺癌、肺氣腫)比主動吸煙和被動吸煙更有害。在公共場所,吸煙的缺點是更大的.,這是與吸煙的另一個作用,那就是,吸煙污染環(huán)境給很多有毒蒸汽消失在空氣中。

　　顯然,禁止人們在公共場所吸煙的好處很多。首先,不吸煙者免受被動吸煙和傷害。第二,空氣質(zhì)量,我們的環(huán)境會得到改善,現(xiàn)在人少機會在公共場所吸煙。
