　　世界上的第一個(gè)父親節(jié)，1910年誕生在美國(guó)，是由住在美國(guó)華盛頓州斯波坎的布魯斯多德夫人倡導(dǎo)的，多德夫人的母親在生育第六個(gè)孩子時(shí)，因難產(chǎn)而死。

　　多德夫人的父親威廉斯馬特先生曾參加過南北戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)，他在妻子過世后，獨(dú)自一人在華盛頓州東部的一個(gè)鄉(xiāng)下農(nóng)場(chǎng)，承擔(dān)起撫養(yǎng)、教育六個(gè)孩子的重任。
