B What do pets do?

My cat is friendly. She likes sitting on the sofa, so she can watch TV. Usually, she is a very happy cat; she miaows when she is hungry. She is quite lazy and cannot do any tricks.（她不會(huì)玩什么把戲） Most of the time, she just wants to sleep on my lap. She is never any trouble.（她從不惹什么麻煩）

My dog, Eddie, likes to run in the park. He often chases cats and birds. Sometimes, he makes a lot of noise. He barks when someone rings the doorbell. Some people are afraid of Eddie. They think he might bite them.

He does wonderful tricks 他會(huì)玩精彩的把戲。

Giving instructions 下命令

We use ‘please’ to make an instruction more polite . 我們用“請(qǐng)”使命令比較禮貌。

When we give an instruction, we can leave out the subject. 當(dāng)我們下命令時(shí)，我們省略主語(yǔ)。如：

Be quite.安靜

Don’t make any noise.不要制造噪音。

Please take the dog for a walk.請(qǐng)蹓一下狗。

Using ‘should’, ‘ought to’, and ‘must’ .

We use ‘should’ ‘should not’ to give advice and to tell people what is the best or right thing to do; ‘ought to’ and ‘ought not to’ have similar meanings to ‘should’ ‘should not’。我們用 “should”和 “should not” 向別人提出建議，告訴別人最好做哪些事或做哪些事是正確的； “ought to”和 “ought not to”與 “should”和 “should not”有類似的含義。

You should/ought to play with your pet for some time every day.

You should not/ought not to feed your dog at the table.

We use ‘must’ to tell people that it is necessary or very important to do something. We use‘ must not’ to tell people that it is necessary or very important not to do something. 我們用 “must”告訴人們做某事是必須的或非常重要的。我們用 “must not”告訴人們，不做某事是必要的或重要的。

You must look after your things.

You mustn’t bring your pets to school.
